2B COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL APRIL 26, 2017 Boys shut-out Sutherlin 5-0 Cottage Grove Speedway is Celebrating The Class of 2017 with Grad Night at the races!! The Lions defeat Bulldogs in doubleheader C Both Lions beat Sutherlin in their double header on Friday. In the varsity game both Brett and Wyatt pitched great games. Thanks to some great defense and timely hitting by the whole team we won 6 to 1 and 5 to 0. Special Shout out to Wyatt for "almost" pitching his fi rst no hitter. So close. Team is looking great. Sure love our Seniors! Good leadership, good attitudes, and great boys. In the JV game these boys played great in both games. Good pitching, exciting plays, good at bats, nice team work, great attitudes and smiles! This team is looking better every game. Garden notice On Tuesday, May 2, Cottage Grove Garden Club welcomes Carol Tannenbuam of McKen- zie River Lavender. Carol will talk about the history of laven- der cultivation and the history of her Farm (located just 10 miles east of Springfi eld). She'll also share insights in growing, harvesting and maintaining lav- ender in Oregon, and explore lavender products and their uses. Carol Tannenbaum moved to Oregon in 1999 to retire on the McKenzie River and fl y fi sh. . Her desire to better utilize the soil led to starting McKenzie River Lavender in 2003. Carol has been a member of the Ore- gon Lavender Association since 2006 and a charter member of US Lavender Growers Associ- ation since 2012. The Tannen- baums fi rst opened their farm in July 2009 to visitors during the annual state wide lavender festival.
