Sept. 16, 1976 New owners of Hidden Valley Golf Club Dennis Boan, a 29-year-old tav- ern owner from Redmond, is the new manager and part-owner of the Hidden Valley Golf Club in Cot- tage Grove. Mr. Boan said Monday that he and Dick and Bernadette Borchers of Salem purchased the facility and took over its operation effective Sept. 3. The new owner declined to say how much money was involved in the purchase. The property was owned by Stella Morrell of Sagi- naw. Mr. Boan, a native of Yoncalla, will live in Cottage Grove and manage the golf club. He said he sold his Redmond tavern earlier this year. Agency Assist, Daugherty Ave. A caller dialed 911 advising of an elderly person who was hallucinat- ing and making statements about harming himself and is somewhat combative. The subject was previ- ously armed with a kitchen knife and scissors but these were success- fully taken away by staff. Offi cers contacted the subject, who struck a staff member, although the staff member didn’t press charges due to the circumstances. Sept. 7 Domestic Disturbance, N 16th A caller advised hearing the couple living upstairs shouting and break- ing things. The caller advised that units have been out there multiple times in the last few weeks with the same subjects. The subjects claimed they were not fi ghting, just con- structing something within the unit and agreed to stop for the night. We have a problem catering to banquets now,” Boan said. But for the time being at least, business at the golf course will go ahead as normal. The sale involved about 70 acres of property, which contains the nine-hole golf course and club house and restaurant facility. Mr. Boan said the new owners do not anticipate making any changes in operations immediately. “I’m new at this,” explained Mr. Boan, “I’m going to take six months and run it just like it has been.” The new owner said Harvey Hixson, the club’s golf pro, will continue in that capacity. And Mr. Boan said he plans “no changes” in the club’s personnel. Items the new owners do plan to consider include a major subdivi- sion property not being used for the golf course. Mr. Boan said the new owners believe there from 20-25 lots available for development. The offi cer was unable to contact the subject but believed he knew who the subject was and continued his search throughout his shift. Sept. 8 Harassment, Bryant Ave. A caller requested an offi cer in regards of her husband’s ex wife ha- rassing her. A complainant was approached by a male subject who was trying to get a ride from him and advised he was recently menaced with a gun by a driver in a red trailer. Sept. 11 MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE AFFORDABLY New golf carts delivered On Thursday, the City took delivery of six new 2017 4- stroke EFI gas powered Yamaha golf carts at Middlefi eld Golf Course. The current fl eet of Club Car golf carts at Middle- fi eld date from the 1990s, with the exception of fi ve newer Club Car golf carts that were pur- chased in 2008. The City said the older golf carts are showing their age and require frequent repairs and maintenance. The City plans to rotate the older carts out by replacing a few each year until the entire fl eet is upgraded Volunteers to beautify Gateway Park and sections of Row River Trail Community volunteers 14 years of age and older are need- ed to help clean up and improve trailside conditions in Gateway Park and sections of the Row River Trail in Cottage Grove. Anna Dewdney memorial Anna Dewdney, author of the “Llama Llama” series, died of brain cancer Sept. 3 at the age of 50 after a 15-month long battle. She was an outspoken advocate of children’s literacy. Her publisher said that in lieu of a funeral service, she had asked that people read a book to a child.
