POLICE BLOTTER July 18 Illegal Parking, City Eight parking citations were issued for cars parking in the wrong direction, parked illegal- ly or gone overtime. All eight were reported and cited within an hour. July 19 Citizen Assist, S. 8th St. A person came into the po- lice department to speak with Chief Shepherd regarding a dissatisfaction with the actions of offi cers when responding to neighborhood complaints. Illegal Parking, City Five more cars were reported and cited for illegal parking around the city. Reckless Driving, HWY 99 A complainant advised that a vehicle came up behind her honking and fl ipping her off. The caller advised that the sub- ject then pulled around her and slammed on his brakes. The ve- hicle was parked in the middle of the roadway at the time of the call. lost a key chain with post offi ce box keys, vehicle keys, USB thumbdrive and an electronic FOB with E-Trade logo. The keys were found on the back of a public computer at the library. The keys were left at the police department the same day to lo- cate the owner. Traffi c Hazard, Garoutte Rd. A reporting person advised police of a large log across the road. Lane County Sheriff’s Offi ce was called to resolve the issue. Theft, Filmore Ave. A complainant came in to the front counter to tell police that Banner Bank stole $3,000 out of his account. Animal Injured, S. 4th St. A reporting person advised that there was a deceased pos- sum on the sidewalk in front of the location. An offi cer re- sponded and discarded the car- cass. Criminal Mischief, Coiner Park A caller advised that teens were hanging out in the park next to the swing set and were throwing knives and sticking them into the trees. The group of kids was contacted and ad- vised of the complaint. The customer was very disoriented and possibly “tweeking.” Suspicious Subject, Adams Ave. A male on a bike with a white- striped shirt was checking door handles on vehicles as he rode by them. Police failed to locate the subject upon arrival. Staff hearing tests Last Monday, 44 City em- ployees from the Police Depart- ment, Middlefi eld Golf Course, Utilities, Building Maintenance, Shop, Water, and Wastewater received hearing tests. Em- ployees in job classifi cations within these City function areas are routinely exposed to loud or repetitive noise. City poli- cy requires employees to use hearing protection when work- ing in loud or repetitive noise environments. Annual hear- ing tests create a baseline level for each employee that can be monitored for any signifi cant changes. This week, Ray Pardee, Water Production Superinten- dent, was notifi ed by Version 2.0 Communications that the trade publication, Treatment Plant Operator, is interested in pub- lishing a summary of the Row River Water Treatment Plant case study in the publication’s Nov., 2016 issue, which will co- incide with that issue’s editorial focus on “treatment and fi ltra- tion”. Vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance With the close of the FY 15-16 budget, it is interesting to note what the City spends on vehicle and equipment re- pair and maintenance services during a fi scal year. The City Shop repairs and maintains ve- hicles and equipment for all City departments. Total equip- ment and vehicle repair costs, for Fiscal Year 2015-2016, were $72,845. This amount was gen- erated by a total of 303 repair orders.
