Wash., surprised the large audience assembled to hear him preach Sunday morning when he made the announcement that hia daughter and her fiance desired that he marry them before the audience assembled. The announcement was made just previous te the sermon. The couple appeared from a room near the front o f the church,and with a quiet ceremony per- formed by her father. Miss Ruth Nick- el became the bride o f Grant C. Mor- ton, of Freewater, Oregon. Miller gave » Christmas house party to a number of out-ot-town friends from Sunday until Tuesday The house was profusely and beautifully decorated throughout with holly, mistletoe, fern, cedar and tir. The entire party attended and Christmas conoart at the Presbyterian church and on Christmas Kvo after ro tuning home, enjoyed a beautiful Christmas tree and an oyster sup|>cr. An elegant Christmas dinner wus the feature of Christmas Hay. The guests were Mrs. Anna Hess, of Uoseburg; Mrs. Wagner ami daughters. Helen and Gladys, of Junction City, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oonaldson and Mrs. Rowe, of Springfield. Miss Helen Foster and Walter Wood ard sprung a surprise on their friends this week and are now Mr. and Mrs. Woodard. They went to Eugene Wednesday morning, secured a mar riage license, were married and re turned on the afternoon train. They had planned the wedding for a day later, but some o f their friends got wind of the affair and they decided to outmanaveur them, and advanced the date 24 hours. Miss Amanda Foster and John Woodard accompanied the couple to Eugene and acted as wit nesses. Miss Foster is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Foster, o f Row River, and Mr. Woodard the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. W'oodard. Thurdsay, Dec. 21. They organized their class and elected officers as fol lows : President, Leslie Hawkins; vice-president, Ross McFarland; sec retary, Francis Lacey ; treasurer, Ralph Awbrey. The time was spent in amusements and refreshments were served, all voting a good time spent.
