her fiance desired that he marry them
before the audience assembled. The
announcement was made just previous
te the sermon. The couple appeared
from a room near the front o f the
church,and with a quiet ceremony per-
formed by her father. Miss Ruth Nick-
el became the bride o f Grant C. Mor-
ton, of Freewater, Oregon. A ft e r the
ceremony the bride and groom listened
to the sermon, immediately after which
they departed from the church before
any of the congregation could congrat
ulate them.

The house was profusely

were Mrs. Anna Hess, of Uoseburg;

and Gladys, of Junction City, and Mr.

They went
to Eugene
Wednesday morning, secured a mar
riage license, were married and re
turned on the afternoon train. They
had planned the wedding for a day
later, but some o f their friends got
wind of the affair and they decided to
outmanaveur them, and advanced the
date 24 hours. Miss Amanda Foster
and John Woodard accompanied the
couple to Eugene and acted as wit
nesses. Miss Foster is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Foster, o f Row
River, and Mr. Woodard the son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. L. W'oodard.
