Oregon apples have commanded the hihgest price ever paid for any apples sold in the Eastern market. The fact is stated today by Presi dent E. L. Smith, of the Oregon Development League, who has just received advice from Loudon that Hood River Newtown Pippins were selling there for 22s Cd per box, equivalent to $5.43. At the same time a lot of 1000 boxes of Newtown Pippins sent to Edinburgh, Scot land, sold at 20s per box, équiva lant to $4.83, whiie apples grown in Scotland were selling at Is Od per box. These prices are equivalent to about 7 cents each for Oregon ap ples, breaking records for prices for the fruit in foreign markets. This information that Oregon ap ples excell those grown elsewhere is authentic, coming from tho Lon don dealers to whom the fruit was consigned by the Hood River Ap- ple.Growers’ Union, in an official communication to President A. This is a produc tion o f some 40 or 50 per cent on the amount invested, and only n small crew is required to operate the property. Five years ago the output of the Sterling was $70.000, Plans were laid to eclipse flint record this year but low water pre vented. U nder W h e e ls of Engine. Astoria, Oregon, March 17 Cap tain S.
