Petersburg, Jan. 6.— The No- voe Vremya says today: The voice of the nation should give answer to the penna talk current abroad, in order that the world may undor stand once anil for all Russia's po sition. and that the idea of ending the war at this juncture is abhoreut to the Russian people. The Em- porer should consult the representa tive of the land, aa his predecessors did before the day* of John the Ter rible. The army, this paper declares, holds the fate of Russia in its hands. It ia stated ou the K>st authority that the battle on tho Shnkhe river ia almiit to bo resumed, the Russians taking the offensive. This was de cided at a meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday. Ths greatest confusion reigns in the interior of the empire. Oue chief of police hss been killed. In several places the rioters set tiro to all the prisons. The chief killed was at tho head of the Warsaw de partment. Fires in the prisons oc curred near Kariikoff. The fault o f giving children med icine containing injurious substan ces, is sometimes more disastrous than the disease from which they are suffering. Every mother should know that Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is perfectly safe for chil dren to tuke. It contains nothing harmful and for coughs, colds and croup is unsurpassed. For sale by R. S.
