THE WALLOWA GOUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Will open for the year, September .7, 908. Instruction will be given in the Classical, Scientific, English and Commercial courses in accordance with the Teachers Manual and Course of Study which will be mailed upon application. The Manual should be in the hands of all who contemplate attending the High School this year, as it contains "Requirements for Admission," ''Advance Standings," "Requirements' for Gradua tion," "Speoial Students," "Length of School year," "Class Records," "Expense," and other facts of vital importance to the person entering. Nedrow of Clover Ridge stayed at the home of Mr. and Mrs H. Mench, Monday night. Mrs. John Holloway and small son and Miss Eva Botts went over to ('lover Ridge Sunday for a few days' visit. Surveyor Meiryman and H. C. Cra mer of Enterprise were guests at the Farmers hotel Saturday night and Sunday. Clarence Dale, who has been quite ick, is slowly improving in health. T. J. Clonlnger was up from the river Monday with a load of peaches which he readily disposed of. Work is progressing rapidly on the new flouring mill. The new planer building is nearlng completion. ' Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Holmes nytde a trip to Enterprise Saturday, return ing Sunday. They went after theii daughter, Miss Leoti, who had been taking the teachers' examination. ' Mrs. Anna Crawford of Walla Wal la, who had been spending the sum mer with her parents and other rel itlves of Lost Prairie, stayed in town Saturday night while on hei way to Paradise where she took the stage Monday morning for borne. G. W. Johnson and family returned Saturday night from a ten days' vis it with relatives at Asotin. Miss Hazel Bekman, formerly oi this place but now of Asotin, is ovei for a visit with her many friends and relattlves. Isaac Pltzer opened up the Conley blacksmith shop Monday morning and Is now prepared to do all kinds of work in his line. This will be a great convenience for our fanners as we have had no blacksmith here for some time. John Holloway has gone to the Uniontown harvest fields. T. D. Conrad has a buggy that he bought of L. Austin. J. E. Acton of Imnaha was in our community a few days ago. The Misses Florence and Lillle Yager, who have been visiting their sister at that place for some time, accom panied him here. Mr. and Mrs. R. Myers were over from Mud Creek a few days ago. Rev. Henry Martin left Friday for Welser, Ida., to attend" the annual conference. He was accompanied as far as Summervllle by Miss Prudence Eddlemon, who will there join Mr and Mrs. A. F. Kline and go on and attend conference with them. The forest fires are dying out 3ome now. W. A. Hoch was over from Grouse Wednesday buying fat cattle. I did not learn how many he succeeded in buying. J. H. Dale made a business trip to Enterprise the last of the week. H. C. Davis is painting the outside of the Baker & Drake store. S. B. Warnock and family were over from Mud Creek Friday. A baby girl was born to the wife of Bailey Shelton, of Paradise, Wed nesday evening, August 12. Miss Susie Dorse, who had been working at the Farmers hotel, has returned to her home on Mud creek George Frazler and family have moved into their hous'-recently pur chased from Dr. Glitfiore.
