Instruction will be given in the Classical, Scientific, English and Commercial courses in accordance with the Teachers' Manual and Course of Study which will be mailed upon application. The Manual should be in the hands of all who contemplate attending the High School this year, as it contains "Requirements for Admission," "Advance Standings," "Requirements for Gradua tlon," "Special Students," "Length of School year," "Class Records," "Expense," and other facts of vital importance to the person entering. W, KERNS, Principal, Enterprise, OregoD. FLORA NEWS. Flora, August 11 Forest fires arej raging In the mountains across the river and men are busy fighting it to keep It out of the Grouse settle ment. Clarence Dale Is having very poor health at present. He Is staying at the Farmers hotel so as to be neai the doctor. Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Johnson and children started for Asotin Thurs day for a ten days' visit with Mrs Johnson's parents and sister. Work has been suspended on the flouring mill for a few days. At soon as material arrives from the outside, however, It will be pushed as fast as possible. A party consisting of Mr. and Mrs William Duley, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore, Mr. Borkham, Fred Matthew and Miss Prudence Eddlemon went down to the Little Salmon Thursday to spend two or three days fishing and enjoying camp life. Mr. and Mrs. George Clark and children went to Mud creek a few days ago for a week's visit with rel atives. Mrs. H. C. Davis and daughter Ruby and Guy Skaggs spent Satur day night and Sunday at the homt of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Renfrow of Lost Prairie. Mrs. Leona Frazler of Paradise is helping Mrs. N. Austin with hei house work this week. J. Q. Connally started for Lewis ton Sunday morning for the purpose of bringing' in a new buggy which he. had ordered shipped there. Ernest Thomas started for the Washington harvest fields Wednes day. John Romain of Anatone was in town Sunday night. Little Jake Bechdolt is on the sick list this week. Al Nedrow was up from the river the last of the week with a load of fruit and vegetables for the market. T. D. Conrad, Frank Bork, and Louis Evans returned from a trip to Lewlston Saturday, bringing in freight for Baker & Drake. some carpenter work for Al Reynolds of Enterprise. W. B. Applegate took dinner at Sled's on his way home from Enter prise. Rev. E. M. Owen stayed at Sleds last night on his way out to Wal lowa. He reports his daughter some what improved in health. We had a little fire at the mouth of Sled creek on Mud creek, but N V. Downs, forest ranger, looked after It efficiently and on short notice. Ruskln Eddlemon was at Sleds yes terday hunting cattle. From him I learned that work is progressing nicely on the flouring mill at Flora. W. H. Nedrow and son Henry were at Sleds today on their way to the county seat on business. Bailey Shelton just passed Sleds with a fine load of fruit and vege tables for the Wallowa market raised on their fine fruit farm on the Grande Ronde river. S. M. Skaggs, Baptist minister was at Sleds yesterday, returning tc Pullman, Wash, after a week's rus ticating in Wallowa county. T. H. Bartlett and daughter ot Lewiston land office have been rus ticating at Sleds for a week. They have had a fine time. Guided by S. B. Conner they went to Swamp creek east and to Mud creek we3t fishing; had good luck and saw some fine scenery. August 10 W. G. Locke, county commissioner, stayed at Sleds last night on his way to the county seat on business SLED SPRINGS. Sled Springs, August ( Miss Olive Tulley was on yeiterday'a out going stage, returning home after a two weeks' visit with her sister, Mra.Mra Martin, of Lost Prairie. H. W. Dorse was on yesterday's out-going stage on his way out to do Allle Norton stayed to recreate a couple of weeks. Mack Shelton and family and Mrs. Shelton's father are camped at Sleds for a couple of months' outing. Guy Bradshaw killed a cub a few days ago near his place on Kulin Ridge. A fierce fire got started In sonic way on Day RUge and burned the residence of Al Chapman and had it not been for Mr. Emmons and others might have resulted a great deal worse. NOTICE OF ANNUAL INSTITUTE The annual Teachers' Institute far Wallowa County will be held at En terprise, August 27, 28 and 29. Prof. J. M. Powers, city Superln tendent of the Salem schools, will conduct the Institute assisted by State Superintendent J. II. Acker man, and Miss Cornelia Marvin, sec retary of the State Library commis sion. Prof. Chas. H. Jones, editor of the Oregon Teachers' Monthly, will have charge of the music. All who Intend to teach in the county this year should make It a point to be present, as the work will be both pleasant and profitable. The public is cordially invited tc attend.
