Notice of Sheriff's Sale for Definquent
Taxes for the year i906.
Notice ia hereby given that by virtue
ot a warrant for the collodion of delin
quent taxes for the year i900 command
ing me to sell the several articles of
personal property or parcels of real
property mentioned ana described in
the delinquent tax list for said year,
issued out of and under the seal of the
County Court of the Sta te -of Oregon,
for the county of Wallowa, bearing
date the 19th day of December i907, and
to me as sheriff directed and delivered, I
will between the hours of nine o'clock
in the forenoon and four o'clock in the
afternoon on the 8th diy of February
laira, at my omoe in uie court house in
the City of Enterprise, Wallowa county,
Oregon, sell for cash at public auction,
to the person who offers to pay the
taxes, costs, and accruing penalties
thereon, and take a certificate at the
lowest rate of interest, not exceeding
ten per cent, each of the following de
scribed parcels of real property, situated
in Wallowa County, Oregon, or so much
thereof as may be necussary, to satisfy
the amount of taxes, costs and accruing
penalties thereon, to wit:

Figures Reveal
Result of Panic
Owing to the panic, and .the
slump in all kinds of business in
cluding land transfers during No
vember and December, the total
number of instruments filed for
record in the office of County Clerk
J. A. French was one less in 1907
than in 1906. The total last year
was 2524. and the year before 2525
Deputy Clerk W. C. Boatman says
if November and December had
kept up Ihe gait of the first 10
months of 1907, the total would
have Bhown an increase of at least
200 instruments over the previous
year.
Thfs is all the more remarkable
when it is remembered that 1906
was the banner year for activity in
I real estate in Wallowa county, and

to $2560.33 in 1907. The largest
single month's business last year
was in August when the receipts
totaled $263 50. This was the
largest during the two years except
for October 1906 when they reached
$275.85.

in $207, but last year increased to
$234.
Miscellaneous fees, such as stal
lion licenses, etc., totaled $57 in
1906 snd $38 last your'.
The total receipts of the clerk's
office Bhowed a decrease of $30.77,
the figures for 1906 heinjr. $3284.10
and for last year $$253.33.
