MULTIPLICITY WILL WEAKEN There has been some talk of put ting an Ashland candidate in the race for state senator against Ben Shel don. Under existing conditions, such a move would be a big mistake. Ashland already has a candidate In the person of Thomas H. Simpson for county commissioner. It Is of more than passing Interest to Ash land that she be ably represented in the county court. It would be hard to find an Ashland man who would be more valuable to this section In -the state senate than Ben Sheldon. He has stood by Ashland Interests In season and out, both as a member of the legislature and as a citizen. Ashland can nominate and elect Mr. Simpson as county commissioner, if it centers its force on it, but by putting in a multiplicity of candi dates for other otfices, they will dl ,.vlde their forces as well as lose down vallev suDnort that would be given ' Mri Simpson if lie was the only Ash. land candidate In the field. It is to be hoped that no Ill-advised action will be taken that will result in Ashland losing all her candidates in the primary election. THIS IS THE MONTH To make garden: To gather greens. To uncover the Btrawberry bed and cultivate between rows. To get every manure pile out on the fields where it is needed. To sprinkle a little grass seed on the br.re spots In the lawn. To clear out all the remaining vegetables from the cellar, and let In the fresh iilr. To take the shoes off the horses working In the fields, and give their feet a rest To plant potatoes on Good Friday. Extra early potatoes can be secured by sprouting them before planting.
