Surprised Officers Tho members of the Ladies' Aux iliary club surprised their president, Mrs. S. B. McXair, by gathering un expectedly at her home on Liuirei street lust Saturday evening. An entertaining program of games and contents had been planned, and were carried out to the amusement of all, alter which most delicious refresh ments were served. Mrs. McNair was presented witli a fine gift from the members of the club as a Blight reward for the efficient service Bho has bestowed. This honor was also shared by Mrs. Ray Murphy, nee Miss Emilia Jenkins, secretary of the Aux iliary, who was ulso presented with a wedding gift. Canteen Gains Recognition In the New Year's edition of the Portland Oregonian is picture of the Ashland canteen workers, who did such efficient service feeding soldiers passing through the city during the war. The personnel of these workers Is: Mrs. Maude M. Maxey, commandant; Mrs. Bertha Annual Dinner Between 175 and 200 persona gathered in the Moose hall yester day at noon to participate In the an nual dinner given by the members of the Methodist congregation. Following this social fea ture the annual business meeting was held at which officers for the church received their appointment. These were practically the same as C. E.Rally A Christian Endeavor rully wa3 held at the Christian church In Ash land on January 1, at 4 p. m. Mr. Clire Sain, slate social welfare chair man, was present and conducted n conference on the new educational program for C. E. work. Attractive Entertainment The entertainment presented nt the Baptist church last evening was one of the finest events of the sort ever presented. An elaborate pro gram was arranged by Dr. Keeney Ferris anil carried on by her with the assistance of a number of tho congregation and was an entertain ment worthy of great praise. This is the farewell event at which Rev. and Dr. Ferris will be present be fore this congregation and a feeling of sadness at the separation was the only thing to mar tho pleasant oc casion last night. Announcement Luncheon Mrs. James McNair was hostess for n luncheon at her home on Tues day, honoring her sister, Miss Nellie Briggs. whose engagement to Charles Angle, a prominent young business mun of Medford, was recently' an nounced.
