Thla procesa Is repeated a number of times, till at last the resultant product la pure magnetic oxide of Iron. Automatic carriers take the Iron ore thence to the hilcklng plant, where, by Ingenious mehranlam, over which the great Inventor has spent thousands of dollars In experimentation, the ore Is mixed with binding material and pressed Into small bricks for convenience in handling. These are then baked and are ready for the market. The sole remain ing work of construction yet to be done la the building of the rotary furnaces which ahall -bake tke bricks as they are delivered and turn them out automati cally. There are no mechanical or scl entltlo difficulties connected with this part of the process, and these furnaces are to be built as soon as Vie frost is out of the ground In the spring. Mr. Edison Is jubilant at the final suc cess of his work. Just at present he is experimenting In the llnej of electric lighting. He stated a day or two ago that he had neglected a number of these matters while finishing up his work at the mine, and that during the next three months he should have some develop ments to bring out that would work a revolution In some of the processes of electric lighting. He was pressed to give a clew as to the lines on which he was working, but he snld that he could not do so until his Ideas were worked out and patented. There are visible signs of a purpose on the part of Great Britain to come to an understanding with Venezuela on the boundary dispute Inde pendent of the action of the United States. Tke statement published yester day that Lord Salisbury waa seeking. through some American power other than the United States, to re-establish diplo matic relations with Venezuela is gen erally believed here. In fact. It has semi official confirmation by Information re ceived here In diplomatic quarters. The Chilian government. It ts said. Is the channel through which Great Brit ain is working; to secure an understand ing with Venesuela. As to England's ability to reach a set tlement directly with Venezuela, there is only one opinion in Washington. It Is that this can be done only by a conces sion of virtually all of the claims set up by Great Britain. The Veneseuelans have time and again refused to arbitrate on the Schomburgk line, and. It Is believed, they will now be more positive than ever In their refusal. If Tord Salisbury la tiling to abandon that line, and to sub mit all, or practically all, of the disputed territory to arbitration, no doubt exists that Venezuela will be found tractable. But Venezuela will not enter Into any convention, even for thla purpose, with out first ascertaining If Its terms are sat isfactory to the United States. Sensational articles recently published. to the effect that the Brltsh war prepa rations now going on are not really re signed for the threatened struggle with Germany, but as an offensive measure against Venezuela and the United States, are laughed at In diplomatic and naval circles.
