Court met at 10 o'clock a. m. and was ituly opened. Communication from D. F. Stafford superior of Road District No. 5. asking instruction, as to collection of road tax and also to making repalrs to bridge at W 1st 8 on county road. read. Ordered that ti.o matter of Road tax be referred to C. W. ulton for an opinion and that the matt of repairs to bridge, the court being of the opinion that any necessary repairs can be made from road fund of said district. It 1, ordered that the su pervlsor be so Instructed. Bond of Nathan Kimball, justice of the peace, Seaside precinct, read and ap proved. Bond of Ed. Banks, supervisor of Road District No. 10, read and approved. Now comes C. Bradbury and asks the court to remit costs on tax roll of his p'roperiy for the year 1833, examined and disallowed. Now conies Andrew Nordstrom and pre sents a notice of himself and others to alter the county road near Sec. 30, Tp. 5 N, R. 7 W., and also appeared J. C. RIerson and presents a remonstrance of himself and others against said alteration and on motion said notice Is dismissed for the reason that no petition nns been niea herein as Is by law required for the lo cating and altering of county roads. Now comes H. S. Lyman, school super intendent and asks the court to provide him with a room In the court house for his olllce or an allowance for ofllce rent. Houghton, ax pervlsor of Road District No. 1, request. Ir.g the court to purchase a road scraper for his district, read and referred to Commissioners Wooden 'and Peterson, with authority to purchase If deemed advisable. Jteport from J. H. Hare, Sheriff, ap pointing R. M. Lowe and M. F. Hardesty deputies to assist State Fish and Fame Protector, and G. Wlngate to serve pa- 1 era for committee of 21, without com- pensanon from the county, read and ordered approved. Report of A. Gibbons, assessor, appoint ing the following persons deputy assessors to take the census, G. O. Moen, A, B. Mc Millan, M. Gorman, P. S. Phllbrick, A. Bergman, W. H. Smith, R. A. Abbott, J. P. Clark, B. F. Coe, J. A. Eakln, and Henry Young, read. Ordered that same be approved and that they be allowed 12.50 per day, while actually employed, not to exceed 6 days each. Communication from J. W. Hare, Sher iff, stating that the personal property of C. W. Rich was erroneously assessed as being In the City of Astoria and School District No. 1, and that the assessments of Ole Olsen, Annie Olsen and H. E. Sephenson was erroneously extended on the tax roll for 1S94, and that the taxes paid by the said persons should be re funded by reason of said erroneous as sessment. It Is ordered that the sheriff refund the amounts overpaid and deduct the same from the several funds on which said taxes were paid. In the matter of the petition of M. E. Juopperl and others to establish a county road. Report of viewers and surveyor on establishing a road as petitioned for by M. C. Juopperl and others, read first time and laid over until tomorrow for second reading. Now comes J. Q. A. Bowlby and asks that the tax sale for the year 1891,. on land in Section 8, Tp. 8 N., R. 7 West, be cancelled the same having been erro neously assessed, allowed and so ordered. J. N. Heckard, Supervisor of Road Dis trict No. C, appeared and reports that the public trail from Jeffers' to Sale's has been obstructed by Jensen, and the court having examined the matter and ascer tained that the trail Is a puttie one, it Is ordered that supervisor remove said ob structions. Now Comes F. I. Dunbar, county clerk, and presents a report showing that the sum of 15,842.66 has been collected from road and poll taxes for the year 1894, and paid Into the county treasurer. Whereas the court having examined the same, hav ing due regard to the amount of taxes collected in the severad road districts, the condition of the roads, necessity for repairs and amount of travel thereon, it is ordered that the following amounts be apportioned to the aeveral district viz: Astoria, $3,067.10; No. 1, $326.93; No. 2, $134.07; No. 3, $228.02; No. 4, $120.03; No. 5, $247.84; No. 6, $100.00; No. 7, $218.75; No. 8, $149.16 ;No. 9, $184.36; No. 10, $235.94; No. 11, $232.77; No. 12, $129.05; No. 13, $177.74; No. 14. $43.03; No. 15, $197.74; total amount, 5842.66.And that the clerk notify the sev eral supervisors of the amount apportion ed to each district Bond of J. Tuesday, May 7th, 1895, second day, same present as yesterday. Court met at 9 a. m. and was duly open ed. Ordered that Road District No. 2 be sl owed $10,00 to repair bridge on county road near Joslah West's. In the matter of the application of Han- na Paulina Junna for the appointment of a guardian for Abram Junna, a spend thrift. Ordered that complaint be made to County Judge against Abram Junna, that he is a spendthrift, that he will so waste and spend his Income that he and his family will become a burden upon the county, and requested that a guar dian be appointed. Now comes Walter Way and makes complaint that the county road leading from Young's river to Nehalem river, n the vicinity of section 18, Tp. S N., R. i. W.. is obstructed by the placing of rates across said road by Otto Johansen, and the court having ascertained that said road is a public road, It is ordered that the clerk notify the road supervisor of Dlctrlct No. 13 to remove said ob structions and open said road for public ravel and warn said Johansen not to further obstruct the same. In the matter of the peltlon of M. E. luopperl and other, to establish a coun- y road. Now at this time is read for the second time the report of the viewers and surveyor for the establishment of a ojntv road as Detltloned for bv M. E. luopperl aNd others, and no objection, or remonstrance having been filed herein, he same i. allowed and ordered re- orded in book of records. In the matter of the petition of S. EN nore, H. o. Lyman ana otners to con- truct a bridge across Lewi, and Clarke river and also construct a bridge or main- aln a steam ferry across Young, river. "his matter being under consideration at his time and the court being of the opinion that .aid bridge should be con ducted across Lewi, and Clarke river ind that a .team ferry should be main- alned by the county across Young's -Iver at point, where a county road from Seaside to the city of Astoria would ross said rivers. It la therefor re- olved by the unanimous vote of this ourt that upon the laying out and con struction of a road from Seaside to As- oria in accordance with the provision, if the law of 1893, known as the "Cross Road Law," that the court will con.truct said bridge across Lewi, and Clarke river, and maintain a .team ferry across Young', river. In the matter of the petition of J. P. .lerrifleld and other, to resurvey, to straighten and re-establish corner, and nonumenU on the county road from louth boundary line of Clatsop county to B.
