aim, until the railroad system shall
be the most gigantic in the country,
and reach from New York to San
Francisco. There is no doubt but
mar nas been long m contempla
tion, and last night's dispatches
from Chicago, would seem to indicate
that it had been nearly or quite ac
complished. Slowly, but surely,
eastern capital has been directing and
controlling matters on this coast, and
evidently now it will be still more
plainly manifest in railroad biwiness.

A Culorrd Woman's Skin Changes Color.
There is in Omaha a colored woman,
black as the ace of spades, whose skin
is gradually turning to a snowv,
though by no means lonrMio.i;t-
whiteness. Her name is Mrs. Annie
atson. The pecularity lies in the
xact that her hands and wrists and a
circle halt an inch wide about each
eye are white. She said that she was
- born in Missouri, and that both of her
parents were blade
Ihe strange change began about sis

ever since. As her skin whitens il
becomes a trifle smoother and less in
clined to wrinkle. These peculiarities
are noticeable particularly on the back
