An Important Announcement About sir weeks ago, while at business. I was suddenly attacked with excruciating pains In my feet, knees and hands. So severe tbe attack that I took my bed Immediately, and In two or three days my JolnU were swollen to almost double thotr natural size, and sleep was driven from me. After suffering- the most excruciating pain for a week, using Unlments and various other remedies, a friend w ho sympathized wlttuny helpless condition, said to mc : "Why don't you get Swift's Specific and use It, I will guarantee a cure, and If It does not the medicine shall cost j ou nothing." I at once secured the S. S. S and after rising It the first day, had a quiet night and refreshing sleep. In a week I felt greatly benefitted In three weeks I could sit up ana walk about the room, and after using six bottles I was out and able to go to business. Since then I have been regularly at my post of duty, and stand on my feet from nine to ten hours a day, and am entirely free from pain. These are the plain and simple facts Iu my case, and I will cheerfully answer all Inquiries relative thereto, either in person or lj mall. Thomas MAiuoiJjg. 11 W. 13th street. New York city. Gubbins, in one of the rare mo ments he devotes to the cultivation of his intellect, was reading aloud from a work on natural histery: "The camel is an animal that can work a week without drink iug." "And I," remarked Gubbins, commenting on the text, "I am an animal that can drink a week with out working." Judge. Four children of a family from Chicago, at one of the Saratoga ho tels, are known by the names of "One," "Two," "Three" and "Four." The eldest is ten years of age, and they are all fine, hand some children, who would com mend themselves to notice even if it were not for their names. The cause is a freak of the father. He explains that having frequently noticed the intense dissatisfaction of children with the names be stowed upon them he resolved to give his children the opportunity of selecting their own names, so he calls them "One," "Two," etc., until they reach the agf of 12 years, when they are given the privilege oi selecting ineir own names. The plan, he says, has given much satisfaction to his fam- Uy. "Ma," remonstrated Bobby, "when I was at grandma's site let me have two pieces of pie." "Well, she ought not to have done so, Bobby," said his mother. "I think two pieces of pie are too much for little boys. The older you grow, Bobby, the more wis dom you will gain. Boboy was silenced, but only for a moment. "Well, ma," he said, "grandma is a good deal older than you are." A Waterbury, Conn., girl had a cat of which she was extremely fond and which showed great af fection for her. The girl died and the cat got into the room where the body lay, and as soon as it saw the dead face of its mis tress fell dead with a groan. This story is said to be well authen ticated. A scientific writer declares that the age at which most suicides take place in this country is 35. It would seem that in early mid dle life the disappointed hopes are most keen and the effects of an ill spent youth most disastrous. At 35 many Americans feel the wean someness of old age. A man named Jackson, a resi dent of Washington county the past sixteen years, and a confirmed drunkard, broke into Mull's saloon at Reedville Monday night of last week, and stole and drank so much liquor that he died before morning. Clover should be grown more abundantly than it is on many farms. When properly cured it makes very nutritious hay, con taining more muscle and milk-making material than ordinary hay. An old Indian woman in Geo. Marshall's crew at Puyallup, Wash., picks five boxes of hops a day. Three boxes is considered a good day's work. In marketing any farm produce it should be rememDered that the sale is best made when they attract the eye by the neatness in which they are placed for sale.
