The First Sign Of failing health, whether in the form ol Night Sweats and Nervousness, or in a sense of General Weariness and L033 ol Appetite, should suggest the use cf Ayer's Sarsaparilla. This preparation is most effective for giving tone and strength to the enfeebled system, pro moting the digestion and assimilation of food, restoring the nervous forces to their normal condition, and for purify Inj, enriching, and vitalizing the blood. Failing Health. Ten years ago my health began to fail. I was troubled with a distressing Cough, Night Sweats, 'Weakness, and Nervous- ness. I tried various remedies pre scribed by different physicians, but becamo so weak that I could not go up stairs without stopping to rest. My friends recommended me to try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, which I did, and 1 am now as healthy and strong as over. Mrs. E. L. Williams, Alexandria, Minn. I have used Ayer's Sarsaparilla, in my family, for Scrofula, and know, if it is taken faithfully, that it will thoroughly eradicate this terrible disease. I hare also prescribed it as a tonic, as well as an alterative, and must say that I honestly believe it to be the best blood medicine cv ercompounded. W. F. Eoti ler, M. Alter taiung Ayer's sarsaparilla for a short time, my headache disap peared, and my stomach performed its duties more perfectly. To-day my health is completely restored. Mary Harley, Springfield, Mass. I have been creatlv benefited bv the prompt use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla. It tones and Invigorates the system, regu lates the action of the digestive and assimilative organs, and vitalizes the blood. It is, without doubt, the most reliablo blood purifier yet discovered. u. n. Jamison, 3S Atlantic avenue, Brooklyn, N. Y. It Ayer's Sarsaparilla, Prepired by Dr. J. C. Or., i ! April 6, 1838. ( Editop. Asteriax: Tour pamphlet entitled "Asto ria's Forest Wealth" is read with pleasure by all who are interested in the future prosperity and in whatever promises to be a source of wealth to the people of Oregon. "While tho writer abundantly shows that more mills may be profitably erected at Astoria, it oc curs to me that he has left un touched and unnoticed the forest wealth of tho interior, which Asto ria may secure as a permanent source of commerce and of wealth little dreamed of by men of the past decade in Oregon. From Astoria soutii 70 mHes, and eastward 50 miles, stretches a forest of unbroken timber land, 1,500,000 acres of which is the finest growth of fir and cedar tim ber in Oregon. The survej'ed line of the railroad as adopted by the Oregon Central company, while it had the land grant to Astoria from ForestGrove, traversed the center of this forest from Astoria up tho valley of the Nehalem river 70 miles, to the head of that river, within 20 miles of Forest Grove. More than 102,000 acres o this timber land is within one mile of the Nehalem river and of the line of the contemplated railroad, and it is safe to say that an equal area of timber is found upon the largo creek1;, tributaries of the NehaleTm, down which logs may be floated to the miils on the railroad and Ne halem: i lver. Men ot experience and wealth from the great lumber regions of Wisconsin and Green Hay in Michigan, have lecently partiall explored along this route and more than intimated their readiness to erect mills all along this line as soon as the rails are laid from their mills to the docks at Astoria. The advantage of having an j.i inost inexhaustible supph at tin door of the mill-, and the cars re ceiving thp lumber as it falls from the saws, to be placed, without further handling, on their docks at Astoria, is considered by experi enced men as not only practicable, bnt promising the establishment of the lumber industry on a scab' hitherto almost unthouglit nl u Oregon. The withdrawal of all the i.nul-. in these extended limits many years ago for a certain railroad cor poration prevented settlements there. Since these lands have been lestored to the government, settlers are swarming in and dot ting the forest with their new and promising homes. The beginning of this great in dustry will of course be simultane ous with the beginning of work on your railroad to Forest Grove. It the output of ten establish ments amounts to but 400,000 feet of lumber per day, it is easy to estimate the number of railroad trains, and the fleet of ships to which this will give active employ ment; but it is not so easy to com pute the results that must follow the rapid settlement of the SOO.OOO acres of land between Forest Grove and Astoria, and tho dense population which Astoria will con trol. It is not alone in the forests, and mines of coal along this route that tho future wealth of Clatsop, Co lumbia and Washington counties consists; but it also consists in their widely spread uplands hav ing a warm loamy soil, producing fruits, grain, and meadows of clover and timothy; and 25,000 acres of alluvial bottom lands in the upper valley of the Nehalem river, gives to these counties a permanent source of wealth which i3 not surpassed by an' country of the same extent on the Pacific coast.
