PLAIN TRUTHS The blood is the foundation of life, it circulates through every part of the body, and unless it is pure and rich, good health is impossible. If disease has entered the system the only sure and quick way to drive it out is to purify and enrich the blood. These simple facts are well known, and the highest medical authorities agree that nothing but iron will restore the blood to its natural condition; and also that all the iron preparations hitherto made blacken the teeth, cause head ache, and are otherwise injurious. Brown's Iron" Bitters will thor oughly and quickly assimilate with the blood, purifying and strengthen ing it, and. thus drive disease from any part of the system, and it will not blacken the teeth, cause head ache or constipation, and is post--tively not injurious. Saved his Child, 17 2f. Eutaw St., Baltimore. Md. Feb. 12, xSSo. Gents: Upon the recommenda tion of a fnead I tried Bkown's I eon Binm as a. tonic and re storativc for my daughter, -whoa I tras thoroughly convinced -was wasting away with Consumption. Having lost three daughters by the terrible disease, under the care cf eminent physicians, I was loth to believe that anything could arrest the progress of the disease, but, to my great surprise, before my daugh ter had taken one botde of Browm Icon Bitters, she began to mend and now is quite restored to former health. A fifth daughter began to show signs of Consumption, and when the physician was consulted he quickly said "Tonics werere- 3 Hired ;" and when informed that le elder sister was -taking Brown's Iron Bmxas, responded "that is a cood tonic, take it." GEAMIART, FRANK NOLBERG. . Fres. Sccy Astoria, Oct. 0,1883. ' c-sod The present season has so far been most favorable to our staple production wheat. Many farm ers will realize a handsome income for their outlay of labor, and we are glad of it. But is it not time to try something else besides wheat? It will surely be more remunerative to have a diversity of crops. All kinds of cernals do well in this country. The other dav Mr. Chenoweth left on our table a bunch of hops that for fecundity could not be excelled anywhere. Quite a number of j farmers inform us t!mt this is a splendid hop country. Th- price of wheat is not always sufficient to j make its exclusive culture a t;tv- ing investment. And vhi our! soil seems to rradual!v improve with cultivation, there must le : limit to its wonderful productive ness. Umatilla County .Lt infer. A large quantity of frozen mut- j ton arrived in Manchester yester day morning. It came under the auspices of the Austrian Meat Agency, and is, we are informed, the first consignment that has reached the provinces. The sheep were killed about seven months ago on South American field?, and com:?, to market now in fresl-, wholesome condition, with frost glistening on their sides. The jPtmiifitajh a sailing vessel, hy which 17,103 carcasses were brought to this country, has just arrived in the Thames, and the mutton now in Manchester was transferred on Thursday to a re frigerator car, which was run along side the dock. 3ancheiiir duurJ- ian. "Your crop seems to he con siderably in the grass," said a passer-by to a negro who sat 0:1 a fence. "Yes, sah. General Green's dun got it." "Did you over plant yourself?" "No, sah, planted 'bout 'nufT". "AVhy didn't you plow it?" "Wife took si'.k. She does the plowin' fur dis place.,. "What do you do?" "What does I do? I preaches, dat's what I does. Ef Providence comes along an' makes de 'oraan sick I kan'c hcJp it. I's been called, I has." Arnitiistnr Traicclcr. When two young Choctaws de sire to fight a duel they do not travel over a halt dozen states to select a suitable battle-ground and to work up public interest over the proposed 'combat. They pro ceed to business without any pre liminaries, like the two bucks at Okmulgee recently, who fought on horseback with knives and were in such dead earnest that the- suc ceeded in inflicting mortal wounds on each other. This is not so theatrical as the civilized method , but it is far more effective. TUTT PILL TORPID BOWELS, DISORDERED LIVER, and MALARIA.
