S. Lnrseu. of this city, importer of tobacco and cigars, and wholesale grocer, is in receipt of an invoice of the famous Grand Seal Cigar. A San Francisco circular says: Tliis marvelous and unrivaled brand has just made its appearance on the market, and it-s popularity is already un bounded. No eiar ever met with such , an enthusiastic reception since inven-l tion of tobacco. The doors hadn't been I opened ten minutes before the house was crowded, and the standing room was so full of eager purchasers that their feet stuck out through tne transom President Grant sent for the first box, and said he would rather be tne nian! who made that cigar than be president, I lie tobacco from which these cigars are made is grown entirely in conserva i rie-. and the cigars are manufactured 'H mahogony tallies by throughbred Cuhnnsin claw-hammer coats sind white kids. It makes the breath sweet and keeps the teeth white: and will force a mustache on the smoothest lip in five weeks. It improves and beautifies the complexion, eradicates tan, freckles, and dandruff, and imparts to the oldest countenance the rosy fresh ness of youth. It permeates the house, window cur tains, closets, and clothes with the deli cate odors and exquisite fragrance of heliotrope, frangipaui. jockey club, and white ro-c. It will fasten the front gate every night, carry in the paper in the morning, clnse ihe hens off the garden, and blister the bn witii the rubber gun. No christian family can properly keep house without it," for the man who smokes 'this cigar will never cut wood too long for the stove, step on a trail, join a club, or 4go down town to the post-office" after supper. People who smoke this cigar will live loiier, make more money, wear better clothes, drive faster horses, pay bigger new rent and go to church more regular ly, and marry prettie- wives than any other class o"" men. The genealogist of the Washington family has appeared. He has printed a book, and defends his assertions against irreverent newspaper criticism. It appears from this volume, says the Star, and its defence by the author, that George Washington is descended from the Anakim, the ci.au ts whom Joshua drove from Palestine, who begat so and so, who in turn begat others, until in the regular line Odin, the head of the royal race of Den mark, was begotten, among whose descendants was Earl Thorfuin, the founder of the Washington family in England. These facts should become generally known. Though plain George Washington wait in vain for a monument, we surely would not try the patience of a descendant of royal Scandinavian ancestry, a relative of the great Rollo of Normandy and William the Conquer of England. The little girl prayed, "Grod bless papa, and mama, and Uncle John, and Aunty Jane, and sister, and brother, and baby, and every body." But the little sister of fered a criticism: "If you'd said 'everybody' to begin with, you'd have got 'en all in and wouldn't have had to make so long a pray er." The hint might serve to a good purpose for some of the brethern whose pulpit prayers are needlessly verbose. A Miss Stevens of York state, died on May 1st of toothache.
