2A | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2019 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARIES mother, artist, writer, poet, friend and world traveler. Independent up to the end, Betty, was proud of her home and accomplishments throughout her years. A Cre- ative through and through, she was free spirited and fun! She expressed this best while hosting parties and socializing, often inheriting new pen-pals along the way. The best way to share her with you is to share a poem she wrote about her beloved home here in Oregon. We chose this one because it is supercalifragilisticexpialido- cious! My Life-Long Quest My life long quest has been fulfilled with peace and freedom at my will. The things I’ve always held in mind are here for me to seek and find. A place to play a place to dream. In wooded hills by rushing streams. The river, sea and changing dunes have now become my daily tunes. These changing scenes have been my quest, I know I’ve found The very best. —Betty Bird Friends and family are welcome to join us for an open house on Monday, Dec. 30, celebrating Betty’s 99th birthday and life, from noon to 5 p.m. at her home.
