The gallery is open daily at 10 a.m. All are welcome at a reception to be held in the challengers’ honor on Saturday, Nov. 9, 3 to 5 p.m., during the Second Saturday Gallery Tour. Mitzi Hathaway has jour- neyed many a path to her new job as the event and tourism development co- ordinator for the Florence Area Chamber of Com- merce. She’s an arranger — from flower arranging to arranging boats in a harbor, from arranging weddings and memorial services to arranging the affairs of the office in a tech firm, Hatha- way comes ready and raring to arrange the chamber’s major events and further develop business and tour- ism here in Oregon’s Coastal Playground. Chamber Executive Di- rector Bettina Hannigan said, “Mitzi has an excellent background and valuable experience required to ful- fill this job and build tour- ism’s impact in Florence. She was immediately tossed into the refiner’s fire of fi- nalizing one of the commu- nity’s most important events and came out shining.” “My heart is in the same place as Bettina’s. We both live to make lives better, to bring people together, to make our community bet- ter,” Hathaway said. “Betti- na often says, ‘hearts have chambers and our Cham- ber has a heart’ and that resonates with me. For Hathaway, Florence is both a fun and healing place. She loves the adven- tures provided by the for- ests, dunes, lakes, river and ocean as much as she does the people. Folk art posters to be displayed in Yachats The coastal community is invited to view a total of 40 drawings by well-known artist Maeona L. Urban on Oct. 25 and 26 in Yachats. There is one 18” x 24” col- ored pencil poster drawing for each book of the Old Testament. The art is on display at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, 360 W. Seventh St. in Yachats. The public can view the drawings from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Urban will be present to talk with visitors each day about the pictures and will be available to answer ques- tions.
