According to Siuslaw School District Business Manager Kari Blake, although the original length of the bond was planned to be 21 years, the school district paid it on time. They had five children: Anne, Donna, Sherry, Da- vid and Debra (Their son died in 1990); 10 grand- children, 11 great-grand- children and 2 great- greats! Don and Shirley enjoyed camping, motor-homing and family get-togethers. He is buried at Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Flor- ence, Ore., and was much loved by his wife and fam- ily. VISIT S IUSLAW N EWS SCHUG—Don Schug, of Florence went to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2019, with family mem- bers at his side. Don and his wife, Shir- ley, had been married for 70 years and were orig- inally from Ida Grove, Iowa. They pulled a trail- er-house f r o m Iowa to Califor- nia in Don Schug 1 9 5 3 , along w i t h their two little girls, Anne and Donna. They settled in Redondo Beach, Ca- lif., where Don worked for a building contractor as a carpenter shingling, installing siding and win- dows and door frames.
