Manager Kari Blake,

the school district paid

They worked together un-
til retiring to Florence in
1987.
They had five children:
Anne, Donna, Sherry, Da-
vid and Debra (Their son
died in 1990); 10 grand-
children, 11 great-grand-
children and 2 great-
greats!
Don and Shirley enjoyed
camping, motor-homing
and family get-togethers.
He is buried at Pacific
Sunset Cemetery in Flor-
ence, Ore., and was much
loved by his wife and fam-
ily.
Burns’s Riverside Chap-
el Florence Funeral Home
is in charge of arrange-
ments.

of Florence went to be
with the Lord on Aug. 5,
2019, with family mem-
bers at his side.
Don and his wife, Shir-
ley, had been married for
70 years and were orig-
inally from Ida Grove,
Iowa.
They
pulled
a trail-
er-house
f r o m
Iowa to
Califor-
nia
in
Don Schug 1 9 5 3 ,
along
w i t h
their two little girls, Anne
and Donna. They settled
in Redondo Beach, Ca-
lif., where Don worked
for a building contractor
as a carpenter shingling,
installing siding and win-
dows and door frames.
He eventually worked
