2A | WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 2019 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARIES LOKEY—Norma Jean Lokey, 88, of Florence, passed away May 20, 2019. No r m a was born in Bar- tlesville, Okla., on June 21, 1931. In 1951, she Norma Lokey m o v e d with her family to Oregon, where she lived out her life. Nor- ma loved the outdoors, fishing, working in her yard and could always be seen reading, crafting, sewing or fixing some- thing. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clady E. Lokey; her parents, Isabel and Merle Worley; her brother Frank Worley; sister Joan Phelps; and daughter, Kar- en Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Lila Lokey; sons James Anderson and Billy Wilson; adopted grandson Michael Wilson-Lokey; stepdaughters Barbara Burton and Yvonne Lokey; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. OLSEN—Robert Olsen was born Oct. 14, 1937, to Albert and Zella Olsen in Hammond, Ore. He is survived by his wife, Maryann; daugh- ters Janet Olsen and Kim Kiskamp; one grand- daughter, two grandsons and one great-grand- daughter. Robert serviced and worked for the U.S. Coast Guard in Southern Cali- fornia for 36 years. Upon his retire- ment in 1995, he moved to Florence. The plate is only for passenger vehicles titled and registered in Oregon. The DMV cannot accept or process applications re- ceived before Aug. 1. In addition to regular title, registration and plate manufacturing fees, the Smokey Bear plate has a $40 surcharge due when individuals first order the plate and at each regis- tration renewal. The sur- charge is the same amount for four-year or two-year registration periods. Customers who pur- chased a prepaid voucher can submit that with their application in lieu of the surcharge; the voucher may only be used once. The Keep Oregon Green As- sociation was required to sell at least 3,000 vouchers before DMV could start implementation of the Smokey Bear license plate. Surcharge funds will go to the Keep Oregon Green Association. For more information on the association, visit www. keeporegongreen.org. Custom (vanity) and Amateur Radio Operator (HAM radio) versions will be available on the Smokey Bear plate. DMV cannot re- serve specific number-let- ter configurations for li- cense plates. Also, DMV does not sell “sample” ver- sions of license plates. People can apply for the plates by mail, at DMV field offices, online or through licensed vehicle dealers when they purchase a car. Customers cannot apply for a Smokey Bear plate on- line if they are submitting a pre-paid voucher. Customers cannot re- place vehicle plates through DEQ emissions testing sta- tions (emissions tests are required only in parts of the Portland and Medford metropolitan areas). The cost of a set of plates depends upon when and how a vehicle owner ap- plies for a new set.
