Two workshops being offered to explain new Medicare options for 2019 The public is invited to a free 40-minute workshop presented by Florence resident and “Retirement Specialist” Ralph Ray, of- fered twice on Tuesday, March 26, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Siuslaw Public Library in Florence, 1460 Ninth St. The purpose of these presentations is to explain the sometimes confusing and complicated feder- al healthcare regulations to those turning 65, as well as older retirees and to veterans who feel that they are paying too much. Ray will discuss the ma- jor differences in the types of Medicare as well as the new Medicare choices available in Lane County. Ray will also go “be- yond Medicare” to pro- vide information on what Medicare does not cover. “As we age, chronic con- ditions can overwhelm families, which causes many to require skilled nursing care in a Long- Term Care (LTC) institu- tional facility,” said Ray, who has worked in a LTC facility. “Many of us need only to have a little extra help with activities of dai- ly living to be able to stay at home.” This new model, called “aging in place” or “at home healthcare,” helps to 2019 Rhododendron Festival Court delay the need for leaving a home. “We all deserve to live at home, and this may be a wonderful option for you,” Ray said. Everyone is invited to come to this presentation for more information.
