2A | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2019 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARIES DEWEY—Teresa Ann (Donato) Dewey, 66, of Flor- e n c e , passed a w a y peace- fully Jan. 2, 2019, with her b el ove d husband by her Teresa Dewey side. Te r r y was born in Oak Park, Ill., on Nov. 21, 1952, to Irene and William Donato. Terry grew up in Oak Park and graduated from Trinity High School. She went on to attend Bradley University, where she received a bache- lor of science degree in sci- ence. Terry taught in various school districts in the Chica- go area prior to her move to California, where she con- tinued her career and her love of teaching. Terry was a substitute teacher, taught special edu- cation and was a company representative for a reading program. Terry married Rodney Dewey in 1985. They en- joyed the outdoors and traveling the country. After they retired, they settled in Roseburg, Ore. During this time, she was able to enjoy her hobbies of card making, crafting and scrapbooking. Terry opened a successful scrapbooking store in Rose- burg. In 2002, Terry was asked to join the U.S. Forest Service to accompany the Capitol Christmas tree to Washington, D.C. After visiting Florence, for many years, Terry and Rod decided to settle down in this part of the country they loved. She made many friends in town and taught card making at the Lane Community Campus. She also enjoyed yard sales, clay classes, and more importantly the beautiful Oregon coast. Terry could often be heard singing the song “Coming Home (Oregon).” Terry was preceded in death by her father, William Donato, and sister-in-law, Brenda Donato (James). She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Rodney; her mother, Irene Donato (McKinney); sib- lings: William (Renee), Ja- nette (Thomas Myers), Rich- ard, James (Ava), Thomas (Susan), Robert; and loving nieces and nephews Jennifer (Christopher Hernandez), Lauren, Adrianna (fiancé Jonny), Alessia, Trevor, Jar- rett, Nicholas and Anthony. She will be missed by her loving husband, family and all those who she met and were a part of her life. A memorial service will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Florence on March 16, beginning at 11 a.m., with inurnment at Pacific Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, dona- tions can be made to: The Wounded Warriors, Operation Tango Mike in Kelseyville, Calif., or a First Responders Survivors Char- ity. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. REEVES—Lester Reeves, 88, of Mapleton, Ore., went to his heavenly home Feb. 22, 2019. Lester was born in Thom- asville, Mo., March 23, 1930, to par- e n t s A n n a ( F l oyd ) and Ben- jamin Reeves. H e married Wa n d a Lester Reeves Mitchell Oct. 14, 1950. The couple had four children. He moved his family from Missouri to Colorado, Washington state and final- ly to Mapleton in 1963. He worked as a heavy equip- ment operator and truck driver for U.S. Plywood and Champion International while living in Mapleton. Lester and his wife moved back to Birchtree, Mo., in 1983. Together they ran a service station there. He went on to work for the Shannon County Road De- partment and drove a school bus for eight years after re- tiring. The couple moved back to Mapleton in 2003 to be near children and grandchildren. Lester was a 63-year mem- ber of the Woodside Mason- ic Lodge of Thomasville, Mo. He was also a member of the Florence Masonic Lodge and cherished his lodge brothers. Lester was a loving hus- band, father and grandpa. Some of his fondest memo- ries were made on hunting trips to eastern Oregon. Most of all, he enjoyed be- ing with family and friends. He leaves behind Wanda, his loving wife of 68 years; a son, Melvin (Peggy) Reeves of Springfield, Ore.; two daughters: Sherrie (Dave) Marshall, Linda (Aaron) Chaney Ziemer; one son-in- law, Terry Statler; all of Ma- pleton; five grandchildren: AVCM (AW/SW) Mike (Hi- romi) Statler of Oak Har- bor, Wash., Douglas Statler, Tammy Marshall (both of Mapleton), Lesley Reeves of Eugene, Ore., Dane Chaney of Birchtree, Mo., 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Lester also leaves behind three half-brothers and two half-sisters, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; daugh- ter Anna Statler; three grandchildren and four brothers. A celebration of life will be planned later.
