SIUSLAW NEWS | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2019 | 11A Siuslaw Public Library announces Best Book List of 2018 Siuslaw Public Library will present its popular annual Best Books List on Friday, Feb. 22, begin- ning at 1 p.m. at the main branch of the library in the Bromley Room and again on March 7, at 2 p.m. at the Mapleton Branch Li- brary. This hour-long program is exciting, fast-paced, and offers a brief description of about sixty books in sixty minutes. The annual list of best books is once again prepared by Adult Services Librarian Kevin Mittge. Each year, Mittge so- licits recommendations for this yearly best book list from library patrons, staff, volunteers and na- tional critics. And, being a prolific reader himself, he also adds his own fa- vorites. The event is free and all genres are included in the lightning-speed book summaries. This fun annual pro- gram is a must for both avid and casual readers. Plan to attend to check out the list of the top 2018 favorites in both fiction and nonfiction. Find out which books were requested most by Siuslaw Public Library pa- trons in 2018 and which selections topped the crit- ic’s list in fiction and non- fiction. Every attendee is guaranteed to learn about a new and interesting author or an intriguing book. A Best Book List will be available to take home and anyone unable to attend can pick up the Library’s Best Books List at the library following the program. When Mittge was asked what he enjoyed most about compiling this year’s Best Books list, he said: “Just like last year, learning about all the great books and authors out there that I haven’t read yet but now want to! And this year I have included suggestions for some authors readers might want to explore.” Everyone is sure to find COURTESY PHOTO Librarian Kevin Mittge will give his annual 60-books-in-60-minutes presentation of the Best Book List on Friday at Siuslaw Public Library in Florence. a new favorite read on his about the program, visit 3132, visit the Library’s the Siuslaw Public Library Facebook page or go to list. Motorists are urged to understand driv- ing conditions on their selected travel routes ahead of leaving from the point of origin and to use Tripcheck.com to “know before you go”.
