NED HICKSON/SIUSLAW NEWS Firefighters from Siuslaw Valley Fire & Rescue mop up a blaze that started in a backyard shed Sunday afternoon around 12:30p.m. The shed was about 15 feet away from the home, located off of Tamarack and Ninth streets, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the shed. The home suffered minor damage to the back wall due to heat. Knockdown of the fire was completed in just under three minutes once firefighters crews arrived. “The crew did a great job containing the fire quickly and protecting the exposures to keep it from spreading,” said interim fire chief Steve Able.
