SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2018 | 3A G ENERAL N EWS Host a scholarship for area students Becoming a local scholar- ship provider is a way com- munity members can make an immediate impact on the lives of our area graduates. Local scholarships are im- mensely important and help pave the way for students to achieve their goals of higher education. Anyone can set up a local scholarship — business owners, service clubs, public or private organizations and even individual community members can become scholar- ship providers. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Siu- slaw High School’s ASPIRE team will be holding an infor- mation meeting for any and all Florence community mem- bers interested in becoming a new local scholarship provid- er. Anyone interested is invited to attend and learn how to be- come a new local scholarship provider, why local scholar- ships are so important to our students and community, ex- plore the ever-rising cost of colleges and learn about our local scholarship awards cer- emony. The presentation will be held at the Siuslaw Public Li- brary, 1460 Ninth St., in the Bromley Room, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. No RSVP required.
