FRAA issues call to artists for ‘Spirit of Summer’ Florence Regional Arts Al- liance (FRAA), and Friends of the Florence Event Center (FEC) are sponsoring an op- portunity for local artists to share their artwork during the months of July and August in Galleries One and Five at the Florence Events Center. Additionally, artists will have the opportunity to win one of three People’s Choice Awards. The award for 1st place will be $250, 2nd place is $150 and 3rd place $100. Another part of the exhibit will be “Patrons of the Artists,” who will agree to purchase a piece of 2-D or 3-D artwork and will be honored at an Art- ist’s Reception on Wednesday, July 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. The open-ended theme “Spirit of Summer” offers end- less possibilities. The show wel- comes 2-D (paintings, photog- raphy and mixed media) and 3-D art (jewelry, pottery, ce- ramics, mosaics, wood, stained glass etc.) The fee to participate in this exhibit is $35. per rod for up to three pieces of 2-D art, and the same for three pieces of 3-D art. Applications are being ac- cepted on a “first-come” basis, until the galleries and case are full. The entry deadline is June 22.
