n June 8, Windermere Real Estate/Lane County donated their
time, muscle and energy to the Florence Food Share and
Garden for the annual Community Service Day. Real estate brokers
from Windermere spent the day tending to the garden and harvest-
ing food. Here, Desiree Johnson helps with the garden while Rob
Shepherd carts over a load of materials. Each year, Windermere
staff members from 300 offices across the western United States
gather together to devote their workday to making positive chang-
es in the neighborhoods they serve. For more information, visit

FRAA issues call to artists for ‘Spirit of Summer’
Florence Regional Arts Al-
liance (FRAA), and Friends
of the Florence Event Center
(FEC) are sponsoring an op-
portunity for local artists to
share their artwork during the
months of July and August in
Galleries One and Five at the
Florence Events Center.
Additionally, artists will have
the opportunity to win one of
three People’s Choice Awards.
The award for 1st place will be
$250, 2nd place is $150 and 3rd
place $100.
Another part of the exhibit
will be “Patrons of the Artists,”
who will agree to purchase a
piece of 2-D or 3-D artwork
and will be honored at an Art-
ist’s Reception on Wednesday,
July 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The open-ended theme
“Spirit of Summer” offers end-
less possibilities. The show wel-
comes 2-D (paintings, photog-
raphy and mixed media) and
3-D art (jewelry, pottery, ce-
ramics, mosaics, wood, stained
glass etc.)
The fee to participate in this
exhibit is $35. per rod for up to
three pieces of 2-D art, and the
same for three pieces of 3-D art.
Applications are being ac-
cepted on a “first-come” basis,
until the galleries and case are
full.
The entry deadline is June
22.

(FRAA) Art Center is hosting
an art & crafts supplies sale!
On Monday, June 18, from
4 to 7 p.m., FRAA members
and local artists will be selling
art supplies at 120 Maple St.
There will be a variety of
new and used art supplies of
all kinds at incredible prices.

to miss, and FRAA will even
supply refreshments.

plans VBS
First Baptist Church will
hold its Vacation Bible School
(VBS) for youth ages 5 years
to sixth-grade the week of
June 25 to 29, from 9 a.m. to
noon.
VBS will be held at the

The theme will be “Game
On!” There will be a registra-
tion tailgate party on Satur-
day, June 16, from noon to 2
p.m.
