SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2018 Port to hold third public input meeting On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Port of Siuslaw Commissioners will hold another public input meeting at 5 p.m. at the Port conference room, located at 100 Harbor St. in Florence. The Port Commission is planning a two-step process. The first step being broad pub- lic input meetings, the second step is creating specific public committees tackling individ- ual projects the port is looking 3 A B&G Club donates socks to SOS at. The meeting is a free-for-all for the public to share ideas for projects, improvements and activities for the Port Commission to consider. Following the public input session, the board will review proposals for Mo’s building repairs, then meet in executive session per ORS 192.660(2)(a) to review applications for the Port Manager position. For more information call 541-997-3426. Oregon Coast Humane Society adds veterinarian “The doctor is in” for two days a week at Oregon Coast Humane Society, 2840 Rhododendron Drive in Florence. Thursdays will be spay/neuter surgery day for the veterinarian, and Fridays will be vaccines and some limited wellness exams. All paperwork and payment for services will need to be completed no later than the Saturday prior to each appoint- ment, so people are asked to plan in advance. To accommodate this sched- ule, the shelter will be closed to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Call the shelter for appoint- ments and more information at 541-997-4277. COURTESY PHOTO Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County (BGCWLC) members present more than 150 pair of Bombas socks to Siuslaw Outreach Services (SOS) on Thursday, Jan. 25, as part of the club’s ongoing community out- reach initiative. The socks were donated to the club as part of Bombas’ pledge to donate one pair of socks to charity for every pair sold. BGCWLC received 500 pair of socks from Bombas in response to a grant request submitted by the club last year. The socks were distributed to club members and families in the community that participated in the club’s annual Stuff the Bus campaign to collect food, clothing and toys for local needy families. BGCWLC Executive Director Jack Davis said, “Our kids really enjoyed being able to share with SOS and to learn about all the things they do to help those in need.
