Page 4 Center Stage Florence Events Center www.EventCenter.org 541-997-1994 Home & Garden Show T he Florence Home & Garden Show will offer new ideas, services and prod- ucts as the central Oregon coast tries to put winter weather behind with a look toward spring. The 2018 show is set for Friday, March 2nd through Sunday, March 4th. Cus- tom wood products, hot tubs, furniture and appliances and dozens of vendors featuring products and services for both the home and garden will pack the Flor- ence Events Center. The Show incorporates vendor ex- hibits, landscape design, food tasting, demonstrations, prizes and giveaways into the upbeat, warm and intimate at- mosphere of the events center, explained show director Jon Thompson. Show hours are from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11-3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under. Admission is free from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday. A Breath of Spring is the theme of the centerpiece design by Laurel Bay Gardens. The local nursery’s display has been the focal point for the show since its inception and this year it will showcase new growing techniques and fresh design concepts for coastal gardens. This will include new prod- ucts for the grow-your-own gardeners, including Hydrodynamics rooting trays, new potting soils specific for op- timum growing in pots, and new lines of organic fertilizers. The garden theme display will also include low maintenance plants that add seasonal color all year long to the landscape, a new line of outdoor pottery, fountains and birdbaths and delightful new indoor pottery for air plants and succulents. The show is sponsored by Three Riv- ers Casino Resort, Bi-Mart and Central Lincoln PUD. It is presented by Coast Radio and the Siuslaw News. Funny Money SEAcoast Entertainment Concert Series L ast Resort Players will step outside S eacoast Entertainment’s 2017 – the box on Friday, March 16 and Sat- urday, March 17 to showcase a game night of silly improvisation called “Funny Money.” Improv professionals Eric and Aden Nepom, based in Port- land, Oregon, will bring their cracker- jack fun & games trivia to the Oregon coast for two nights. The couple are part of Infinite Improv and have per- formed and created improv programs all over the world, including Mount Olymprov, an international Improvisa- tion Show in Athens, Greece. “Funny Money” is performed by two teams of improvisers while audience members have a chance to be included in the game show to win prizes. Doors to the general admission seating will open at 6:30 p.m. and beverages will be available for purchase from Pavilion Catering throughout the evening. $18 tickets are available through the Florence Events Center box office at 541-997-1994 or on-line at www.eventcenter.org. In addition to the game show night, Eric and Aden will be offering an im- provisational class on Saturday, March 17th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for anyone interested in taking part in a fun the- ater class. The cost of the class is free for Last Resort Players members or $20 for individuals. Improv allows a person to express emotions, characters and feelings without the confines of a script or set pieces. The Newport Symphony will perform on March 23 with a 7 p.m. pre-concert talk in the theater and a 7:30 p.m. show. As the only year-round professional symphony on the Oregon Coast, it is only fitting that they be part of the SEA Coastal Concert Series. Adam Flatt will conduct and Narek Artyunian will be the guest soloist on the clarinet. Coming in April is the musical talents of Gentri: The Gentlemen Trio will be SEA’s welcome to spring with their 7 p.m. perfor- mance on April 19. There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:15. These three highly trained tenors have pioneered a signature sound de- scribed as “Cinematic Pop” which highlights their rich, dynamic three-part harmonies. Vivace will end the SEA 2017 – 18 Coastal Concert Series with their performance on May 24 at 7 p.m. following a pre-concert talk at 6:15. Vivace is a quartet of modern singers performing a thrilling songbook made up of a combination of pop and classical pieces. Vivace will present a diverse repertoire ranging from pop, to arias, to original compositions. They pride themselves on putting a fresh new take on the classical and modern music of today. Seacoast Entertainment Asso- ciation is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) non-profit that produces the Coastal Concert Series in order to bring Entertainment and Com- munity Enrichment to the Oregon Coast.
