Sarah Schurr will deliver the Sunday, Dec. 10, worship service at the Florence Unitarian Universalist Fellowship from 10 until 11 a.m. Her message is titled, “Walking Toward Trouble.” The Social Justice commit- tee at the UU Fellowship is currently working to build a stronger and more effective interfaith coalition within the Florence community, so Rev. Schurr’s message is timely and will address many of the issues commonly faced. Two children time travel back to King Herod’s court, arriving at the same time as the Three Wise Men. There, they face a choice between following King Herod or King Jesus. The play, “Wee Three Kings,” tells the story of Jesus’ birth in a fun, yet meaningful way, with lots of Christmas carols to sing along with. Spirituali-Tea to discuss divine educators Dec. 11 On Monday, Dec. 11, begin- ning at 6:30 p.m., all are invit- ed to join a group of people who enjoy finding the com- mon grounds in diverse spiri- tual thoughts and paths. The group’s purpose is to trust one’s own path enough to be open to the value of the thoughts and paths of others. The topic for Monday’s gathering will be “Divine Educators.” The Baha’i Teachings state that throughout history, God has sent to humanity a series of divine Educators — known as Manifestations of God — whose teachings have provid- ed the basis for the advance- ment of civilization. These manifestations have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad. Baha’u’llah, the latest of these Messengers, explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God. “The teachings are the same. It is the same foundation and the same temple. Truth is one, and without division. The teachings of Jesus are in a con- centrated form. Men do not agree to this day as to the meaning of many of His say- ings,” the teachings say. Baha’u’llah has expanded and fulfilled the teachings, and has applied them in detail to the whole world. Bring your thoughts on the subject for open discussion. The gathering will end at 8 p.m. with prayers for the requests left in the Prayer Pole in the garden of the Florence Playhouse and those shared by the group.
