PFLAG to hold ‘white elephant’ party PFLAG Florence will add some frivolity at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with a “White Elephant” gift exchange. The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library in Florence, located at 1460 9th Street. “White elephants,” loosely defined, are silly, useless or surprisingly good things peo- ple have in their “I’ll-never- use-this” drawer. Craft items, canned goods or fun-but-not expensive items not to exceed $5 in price can also be in the mix. Participants simply wrap the “white elephant” and have fun as selections are made – and “trading” takes place. For those who can’t bring an item, a few extras will be on hand. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served. PFLAG-Florence is an affil- iate of a national organization with more than 350 chapters and 200,000 members and sup- porters across the United States. PFLAG is the country’s largest organization for par- ents, families, friends, and straight allies united with peo- ple who are lesbian, gay, bisex- ual and transgender. Deadlines for press releases are Mondays and Thursdays by noon. Email them to: Florence Caregiving Support Group meets Dec. 12 Th e Rapture, Th e Great Tribulation, Are You Afraid of the Antichrist?
