Helfand is a multi-talented instrumentalist. He composes as well as plays the Celtic harp, mandocello, octave mandolin, guitar and keyboards. Lader, who teaches the vio- lin and viola, also composes and is an accomplished violist. Together they play beautiful lively jigs and wistfully sad tunes, their instruments elicit- ing a contrast of emotions. To date, the duo has released three albums, most recently “Through the Portal” (2016) which was inspired by the emo- tional journey experienced by Helfand when losing his moth- er.
