Acoustic Musicians Helfand and Lader return to library
The Siuslaw Public Library
will usher in December with a
treat for music lovers.
David Helfand and Justin
Lader, a multi-talented acousti-
cal duo, return to Florence with
their popular original eclectic
mix of music on Saturday, Dec.
2, at 2 p.m. in the Bromley
Room at the Florence Siuslaw
Public Library location.
Oregon musicians Helfand
and Lader have been touring
around the Pacific Northwest
and northern California the last
few years sharing their signa-
ture blend of music at coffee-
houses, festivals (including the
Eugene
Irish
Festival),
libraries, private homes and the
Lane ESD Planetarium.
Their music has been called

multi-cultural inspired music of
passion and transcendence with
inspirations from the Celtic
lands, the Middle East, penta-
tonic meditation music, space
music and progressive rock.
Helfand is a multi-talented
instrumentalist. He composes
as well as plays the Celtic harp,
mandocello, octave mandolin,
guitar and keyboards.
Lader, who teaches the vio-
lin and viola, also composes
and is an accomplished violist.
Together they play beautiful
lively jigs and wistfully sad
tunes, their instruments elicit-
ing a contrast of emotions.
To date, the duo has released
three albums, most recently
“Through the Portal” (2016)
which was inspired by the emo-
tional journey experienced by
Helfand when losing his moth-
er.
This special Saturday after-
noon concert is sure to provide
a peaceful and inspirational
respite from the hectic holiday
season.
This concert is free and open
to all, young and old alike.
Concert-goers will enjoy magi-
cal and emotional musical
compositions as well as light
seasonal refreshments.
The Florence library is locat-
ed at 1460 9th Street.
