T win Lakes Store has begun fundraising for its annual Teen Giving Tree. It is asking the com- munity for donations of produce and fruit. One hundred percent of proceeds are used to buy Christmas presents for local teens. “Gleaning the local gardens and fruit trees has been a great way to raise money for our Teens,” said Vicki Ambrosio, owner of Twin Lakes Store. “The cus- tomers benefit from fresh, local produce and help our local teens at the same time.” Asian apples have just arrived and other produce will come in as they ripen. Anyone with an abun- dance of fruit or vegetables can donate them to this fundraiser. Twin Lakes Store is located three miles North of Florence on Highway 101, by Sutton Lake. To prepare for the winter storm season, the Port of Siuslaw will begin placing pro- tective log booms around its marinas. In early November, booms will be placed around the East and West boat basins and the boat launch located at the end of Harbor Street in Historic Old Town Florence. Increasing debris flow in the Siuslaw River over recent years requires the port to take these protective measures. Last Resort Players’ new logo designs due Nov. 2 The board of directors of Last Resort Players (LRP), a local nonprofit theater group that performs at the Florence Events Center, has extended the competition to create a new logo to replace LRP’s cur- rent logo. The new logo will be on LRP letter heads, its website and social media, T-shirts and membership cards. Submissions must be received no later than Nov. 2, and more than one design can be submitted by artists. The design can be in black and white or color. Submissions can be mailed to Last Resort Players, P.O. Box 2104, Florence, OR 97439, or emailed to LRP sec- retary Judy Adams at lastresort players2@gmail.com. The LRP members will choose the new logo and a final decision will be made at the board meeting on Nov. 9.
