T
win Lakes Store has begun fundraising for its
annual Teen Giving Tree. It is asking the com-
munity for donations of produce and fruit. One
hundred percent of proceeds are used to buy
Christmas presents for local teens. “Gleaning the
local gardens and fruit trees has been a great way
to raise money for our Teens,” said Vicki
Ambrosio, owner of Twin Lakes Store. “The cus-
tomers benefit from fresh, local produce and
help our local teens at the same time.” Asian
apples have just arrived and other produce will
come in as they ripen. Anyone with an abun-
dance of fruit or vegetables can donate them to
this fundraiser. Twin Lakes Store is located three
miles North of Florence on Highway 101, by
Sutton Lake. Donations can be dropped off dur-
ing business hours, seven days a week, from 8
a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call 541-997-
3021.

To prepare for the winter
storm season, the Port of
Siuslaw will begin placing pro-
tective log booms around its
marinas. In early November,
booms will be placed around
the East and West boat basins
and the boat launch located at
the end of Harbor Street in
Historic Old Town Florence.
Increasing debris flow in the
Siuslaw River over recent
years requires the port to take
these protective measures.
