10 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2017 Peace Harbor helps those who are in mourning ‘Journey Through Grief’ The Peace Harbor Hospice “Journey Through Grief” class will offer grief education through a unique 8-part class that meets weekly, Oct. 4 through Nov. 22. This is a chance for those who are in mourning, or know people who are, to meet others with the same experience, learn that grief is a normal process, talk about their grief in a safe, non-judgmental envi- ronment, receive support, offer support to others by listening and learn about the grieving process. The classes cover a wide variety of topics, including changes experienced in bereavement, self-help app- roaches, understanding the grief process, coping with stress with emphasis on self- care, role changes and explor- ing what helps and does not help with loss. The classes also include dis- cussion as participants share experiences and receive sup- port from others. “Journey Through Grief” will be led by a trained bereavement counselor and confidentiality is assured. There is no charge to partici- pate, and all materials will be provided and open to all community members who have experienced the death of someone.
