He overcame many chal- lenges in his life but when his mother, his constant compan- ion, passed in May he was never the same. She called him home. Born in 1953 into a mili- tary family in Oshkosh, Wisc., by parents Donald and Virginia Roeder (deceased). Rod proudly enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He was also well known as a taxi driver and an apartment manager for many years. Rod’s “larger than life” personality and beautiful smile permeated his everyday life: telling stories, just to get a smile if you didn’t have one, and entertaining clients at his wife’s salon or listening to their concerns. He was a compassionate man with a big heart. In that spirit, he volun- teered at the Roseburg VA Hospital where he encour- aged and counseled veterans who had lost limbs and at Peace Harbor Medical Center, where he was loved by so many. He was so proud to wear his PHMC shirt! Roeder is survived by his wife, T. Luisa Roeder; his brothers: Rick (Penney) Roeder and Don (Veronica) Roeder; his daughters: Christine Steinert, along with her husband and three chil- dren; Kelsey R. Roeder; and his son, Kyle K. She also served as a hos- pice volunteer for a time. In her spare time, she loved to attend church and A.A. functions, to go camping, hiking, riding her Harley, playing games, visiting new and favorite places, dancing and tending her flower gar- den. Julie especially loved to spend time with her family. She added so much to the lives that surrounded her, and she will be greatly missed here on earth, but we know that she is alive and well with her Lord and we look forward to joining her again one day in Glory.
