Every year the Club is one of over 2700 groups throughout the US and Canada who set up emergency radio stations, complete with tents and antennas, and keep their radios on the air for 24 straight hours. This year the Club set up 5 different types of amateur radio stations in the wilds of Sutton Campground. All stations were powered by solar power, batteries and emergency generators to simulate the power grid being down during a disaster.Experience around the world has shown that in the event of an earthquake or tsunami, the first things to be wiped out are telephones, cell phones and the internet. Field Day is practice for the Club members in setting up their radio stations from scratch and using emergency power to be able to communicate on behalf of the cities of Florence, Dunes City and Mapleton with the rest of Lane County – and with the rest of the world. The exercise lasted 24 hours, round the clock, because if there is a disaster, normal communications will not be restored for days, weeks or even months. Tribute to life and music of Pete Seeger at library The Siusalw Public Library has announced it will present; “Pete Seeger-The Man and the Music,” on Thursday, June 29, at 6 p m. in The Bromley Room, at the Siuslaw Public Library. Musical duo Hank Payne & Claire Favro, from Poulsbo, WA, take listeners back in time with their banjo and 12-string guitar to the folk era of the six- ties and early seventies. Join Payne and Favro as they sketch the line from Seeger’s passion for social justice issues (labor, war, civil rights, and the environment) to the music the iconic musician inspired. Never has Seeger’s message been more relevant and through slides, stories and songs, listeners will see why. Learn the back stories behind Seeger’s famous tunes and sing along with popular songs like; “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?,” “Puff the $9 | $8 Senior/Student/Military | $7.50 Matinees Before 2 | $7 Child | $6.50 Members | Performing Arts: $19/$15/$10 JUNE 30 – JULY 6 FRI 30 1:20 PM R 113 MIN - “A thrilling and original cinematic 3:50 PM joyride that pays homage to heist masterpieces 6:20 PM while creating a legacy of its own.” Screen Crush 8:50 PM BABY DRIVER – Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx DESPICABLE ME 3 PG 96 MIN – “This rather clever, breakneck- paced cartoon gives fans exactly what they want: Like the new nemesis voiced by Trey Parker, it shoots machine-gun bursts of bubblegum at the audience, asking them to chew and enjoy.” HR 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 4:20 PM 6:30 PM 8:40 PM SAT 1 MON 3 TUE 4 WED 5 THU 6 1:20 PM 3:50 PM 6:20 PM 8:50 PM 12:20 PM 2:50 PM 5:20 PM 8:55 PM 1:20 PM 3:50 PM 6:20 PM 8:50 PM 1:20 PM 3:50 PM 6:20 PM 12:30 PM 3:30 PM 6:00 PM 8:40 PM 1:20 PM 3:50 PM 6:20 PM 8:50 PM 11:00 AM 2:10 PM 6:30 PM 8:40 PM 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 6:30 PM 8:40 PM 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 4:20 PM 6:30 PM 8:40 PM 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 4:20 PM 6:30 PM 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 4:20 PM 6:30 PM 8:55 PM 12:00 PM 2:10 PM 4:20 PM 6:30 PM 8:55 PM 4:20 PM DESPICABLE ME 3 – 3D SUN 2 12:30 PM 11:05 AM 12:30 PM 12:30 PM 12:00 PM 11:30 AM 12:30 PM PG-13 149 MIN – “Regardless of our opinions, 4:00 PM 4:00 PM 4:00 PM 4:00 PM 3:20 PM 2:40 PM 3:50 PM we all know what a Michael Bay film is.
