SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017 3 B Lane County Parks to host Master Plan community workshops Lane County is seeking com- munity insight regarding the Parks and Open Space Master Plan to help create the best future for Lane County parks. A 24-member, community- led task force began meeting in December to craft draft mission and vision statements and potential “service scenarios” for County parks. Feedback from the commu- nity is instrumental in helping the task force refine the recom- mendation it will ultimately make to the Board of County Commissioners. “Our parks and open spaces are crucial to the community’s economic vitality, quality of life, and public health,” said Parks Master Plan Task Force member Ashely Adelman. “They also provide an impor- tant legacy for future genera- tions. Hearing from the com- munity is critical in order for the plan to reflect our residents’ preferences and priorities. “I can’t encourage people enough to take a few minutes to complete the online survey or attend a workshop.” A brief, online survey will provide direct feedback to the Parks Master Plan Task Force. Take the survey at bit.ly/ lanecountyparks. Residents and stakeholders are also invited to attend one of six community workshops to provide feedback regarding best practices and community priorities. Community workshops will take place at locations through- out the county to reach as many community members as possi- ble. Session 2 will take place in Mapleton on Wednesday, April 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Mapleton High School Library, 10878 E. Mapleton Road) Session 5 will be held in Florence on Thursday, May 4, at Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue, 2625 Highway 101, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. To stay informed, visit www. lanecounty.org/ParksPlan.
