J OE T RIO SEA COAST Yachats Artists Guild to J AN . 21 IN F LORENCE display work at library CONTINUES SEASON ON COURTESY PHOTO Joe Trio will be the next performance presented in the SEAcoast 2017 season. inda Gargis, SEA board vice-president, said, “Since its beginning 36 years ago, SEAcoast Entertainment has brought top quality performers to Florence audiences.” And this season continues Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., when The Joe Trio will entertain with humor, versa- tility and wit. The three tremendously musical, classically trained players (piano, cello and violin) will bring all a fresh appreciation for the standard concert repertoire (think “Beethoven meets The Pink Panther”) while entertaining the audience with humor and spontaneity. The season is far from over. Celebrate Mardi Gras a couple of days early with “Bria Skonberg’s New Orleans Jazz Band” during a Sunday afternoon tea dance L Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. Skonberg is a specialist in classic American hot jazz. She leads her band, wails on the trumpet, and beautifully vocalizes jazz standards with energy and pizzazz. SEA is providing Florence fans of brass with a much- needed dose of energy with the Dallas Brass on Wednesday, March 29, at 7 p.m. The quintet masters all aspects of the brass reper- toire: classical, Dixieland, swing, show tunes and more as they provide a musical travelogue through American instrumental history. On Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m., SEA presents “Barrage 8,” a high-energy dose of modern string instru- ments and movement. Their innovative stage performance blends wonder- fully with their musical tal- ent — and strings like you have never heard them before. On Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m., it will be an incom- parable night for keyboard fans: dueling pianos when “The Piano Caméléons” will ring out the SEA season on two grand pianos, expertly manned by a pair of virtuoso pianists. They revisit great classic pieces with interpretations touched by traditional jazz, world beat and other influ- ences. It will be a spectacle for the eyes, ears and soul. COURTESY PHOTO Watercolor by Jowanna Gosselin, “Aaaah, Spring” embers of the Yachats Arts Guild (YAG) will exhibit their art at the Florence location of the Siuslaw Public Library through Jan. 31. Seven prominent members of the YAG, Mark Adcock, Debra Aken, Claire Good, Jowanna Gosselin, Jeanetta Hodges Carol Summers and Kathy Whitson, will bring to the show their art which includes: oil, acrylic, watercolor and photog- M raphy. Since 2007, the Yachats Arts Guild has had two shows each year on Fourth of July and Labor Day at the Commons in Yachats. These artists are pleased to bring some of their art to share with residents of Florence at the Siuslaw library during the month of January.
