After opening with a halfcourt man- to-man defense in the first half, the Falcons switched between a 3/4-court press and 1-2-1-1 zone which, coupled with early foul trouble for the Viks, stymied Siuslaw in the third period. “We scratched our heads for a while before figuring out how to adjust,” said Siuslaw coach Clint Tatum, whose team got behind by as many as 17 E LMIRA points in the quarter. “Once we figured it out, we made up a lot of ground.” Starting defenders Brittany Long and Destinie Tatum were out for most of the third quarter as the Falcons went on a 23-3 run.
