H AVE AN E VENT OR A NNOUNCEMENT ? COURTESY PHOTOS Winning photographs by (from left) Ed Wilent, Betty Romero and Rudy Gargioni FLORENCE — The Siuslaw Viewfinders Camera Club’s theme for November was “Automotive.” Members came up with an interesting variety of photos. First place went to Ed Wilent with a picture of a Mac truck coming out of the mist. Wilent’s techniques for turning the mundane into the unusual are brilliant. Betty Romero took second with a straight on view of a hot rod with eight intake stacks. Third place went to Rudy Gargioni with a photo of a headlight on a chrome yellow hot rod. The next meeting will be Monday, Dec. 5, in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 Ninth LRP holds auditions for ‘Moon Over Buffalo’ Dec. 17-18 Last Resort Players (LRP) will begin auditions for Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo” Saturday, Dec. 17, and Sunday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Florence Events Center, 715 Quince St. In the madcap comedy tradition of “Lend me a Tenor,” the hilarious “Moon Over Buffalo”centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they are playing two shows in rep in Buffalo, New York, with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingenue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at star- dom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that oould go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from 1 6 • C OAST their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilar- ious uncertainty about which play they are actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf old stage-manager moth- er who hates every bone in George’s body. Four men, stage ages 20 to 60 years old, and four women, stage ages 20 to 70 years old, are needed. LRP seeks an ensemble cast, with a strong leading man and woman. There will be parts for senior actors and tech and stage crew inquiries are wel- come. “Moon Over Buffalo” rehearsals start Sunday, Jan. 8. LRP will perform “Moon Over Buffalo” on March 17 through 19 and 24 to 26. For further information contact direc- tors Paula Lindekugel-Willis at 701-721- 0327 or James Wellington at 541-997- 5852.
