6 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2016 Kuhar honored at farewell reception SHS to host bottle drive On Sunday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Siuslaw High School senior students and parents will be hosting a bottle/can drive and making a Beaver vs. Ducks Civil War competition out of it. Cans and bottles may be dropped at Siuslaw Middle School, 2525 Oak St. “We will have a Beaver container and a Duck contain- er for bottles and cans the day after the big Civil War game over Thanksgiving weekend,” said event coordinator Lori Larson.“We are working hard to raise funds for our senior all-night drug- and alcohol- free party, and this is a fun way to bring in bottles and cans and raise funds for our event.” In addition to the bottle/can drop off at the middle school, people can also drop off their cans and bottles at Copeland Lumber, 3231 Highway 101, anytime the week leading up to the event. Arrangements can also be made for students pick up cans/botles by emailing Project Graduation at siuslaw projectgraduation@gmail. com. “If you make a donation, you will be eligible for a draw- ing,” said Larson. “The more bottles and cans that you bring, the more chances you will have to win. “The winning ticket will be drawn out of the ‘Beaver’ or ‘Duck’ donors — whichever team has the most donations.” There will also be a conso- lation prize drawn from the losing team.
