PHOTOS BY STEVEN LESKIN 40% OFF entire store!! The 82-year-old fishing vessel Ester met an ignominious end Friday afternoon when a Northwest Hazmat demolition crew from Eugene beached the 43-foot vessel at the Port of Siuslaw boat ramp and dismantled the craft at a cost of $8,000. Her owners abandoned the disabled vessel after the U.S. Coast Guard towed it into the port in March 2015. Precautions were taken to make sure no fuel or oil leaked out during the process. Port Manager Steven Leskin said, “We spent a lot of time trying to figure out if we could repurpose the boat, if we could sell it responsibly so that it wouldn’t be back in the marina. We ultimately came to the conclusion that the only responsible decision for us was to destroy it.” (Except Shawls) Old Town Florence 1/2 block off Bay Street behind Bridgewater Restaurant PeaceHealth Peace Harbor recognizes National Hospice, Palliative Care Month THIS WEEK’S FEATURES: $9 | $8 Senior/Student/Military | $7.50 Matinees Before 3 | $7 Child | $6.50 Members NOV 25 – DEC 1 FRI 25 SAT 26 SUN 27 MON 28 12:30 PM 3:25 PM 6:15 PM 8:55 PM 12:15 PM 3:00 PM 5:40 PM 8:20 PM 12:20 PM 3:20 PM 6:15 PM 8:55 PM 12:45 PM 12:40 PM 3:25 PM 3:20 PM 6:15 PM 6:05 PM 8:55 PM 12:40 PM 3:20 PM 6:05 PM 9:15 PM 3:30 PM 11:00 AM 12:10 PM 6:10 PM 1:20 PM 2:40 PM 8:40 PM 4:00 PM 7:50 PM 6:30 PM 12:50 PM 3:30 PM 6:10 PM 8:40 PM 12:50 PM 3:30 PM 6:10 PM 8:40 PM 12:50 PM 3:30 PM 6:10 PM 8:40 PM 12:45 PM ALLIED 3:25 PM R 124 MIN – “While it may not quite be the 6:15 PM modern-day “Casablanca,” it is nevertheless a 8:55 PM grandly entertaining stab at old-fashioned storytelling…buoyed by smart and stylish filmmaking, a good performance by Brad Pitt and an even better one from Marion Cotillard.” RogerEbert.com FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM PG-13 140 MIN - “Rowling and Yates have given us a terrifically good-natured, unpretentious and irresistibly buoyant film. While PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center recently launched a new Palliative Care program, its nonprofit hospice program has been serving hundreds of fami- lies within the 25-mile Florence region including Westlake, Mapleton, Dead- wood and Swisshome. Hospice care is not a service often highlighted, but it is an important one. It empowers people facing a life-limiting ill- ness to live as fully as possible — surrounded and supported by family and loved ones. In Florence, Peace Harbor’s hospice program is an example of a community coming together to help diverse popu- lations access quality end-of- life care. One example is Peace Harbor’s “Flowers of Love” program. Businesses like Florence in Bloom and Fred Meyer, and individuals like the Spencer WEDNESDAY THURSDAY family, donate flowers that are assembled and distributed to patient rooms — lifting spirits of both patients and families. Volunteers also come from as far as Mapleton and Yachats to help those in need. They make healing blankets and donate their time assisting with office support and patient com- fort care. Some work directly with patients, providing respite care for caregivers and families. “Our hospice program really is an example of ‘it takes a vil- lage,’” says Kathy Murphy, manager of Home Care Services at Peace Harbor. “We have an incredible team in Hospice Care, but the generos- ity of local community busi- nesses as well as volunteers is really what allows us to deliver exceptional care to our patients. “They really add to our patient’s quality of life. We’re grateful to be part of such a caring community.” Peace Harbor’s Hospice pro- FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY NOVEMBER 23 NOVEMBER 24 NOVEMBER 25 NOVEMBER 26 NOVEMBER 27 NOVEMBRER 28 NOVEMBER 29 Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain Showers Showers 51°F 47°F 52°F 47°F 50°F 46°F 51°F 47°F 53°F 47°F 53°F 45°F 52°F 44°F THIS WEEK’S SPECIAL EVENTS: Films are regular prices | Performing Arts $19/$15 Member/$10 Student BOLSHOI BALLET: THE GOLDEN AGE 11:00 AM NR 140 MIN – The Bolshoi returns!
