2 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2016 OBITUARIES BURKE —Longtime Florence resident Henrietta “Chris” B u r k e passed away at her home Nov. 1, 2016. Chris was born Nov. 19, 1931, Henrietta n e a r Burke Stanwood, Wash., to Ole and Mary Christoferson. After graduating from high school in 1950, she moved to Seattle and worked as a tele- phone operator. While in Seattle, she met her future husband Virgil Burke. They were married Oct. 5, 1951, and had four children. The family moved from Washington to Northern California for couple of years then to Florence after losing their home to a flood. Chris and Virgil raised their children in Florence and during part of that time she worked for International Paper. Chris and Virgil were active in the Elks and Moose lodges and all of their children’s many activities. Upon the loss of Virgil in 1990, Chris retired and spent many hours playing cards and socializing with her friends at the Florence Senior Center. She also enjoyed her flowers and yard. Her greatest enjoy- ment was spending time with her family, sharing many laughs over dinners followed by their famous poker games. Chris had an amazing sense of humor, which remained active until her passing. Chris was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Orville Christoferson. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Christie and Bill Wilson, Jack and Theresa Burke, Dave and Diane Burke and Ron and Lori Burke; she is also survived by five grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild, her sister Grace Borland, brother Kennedy Christoferson and many nieces and nephews. At Chris’s request, no servic- es will be held. Donations in her memory can be made to the Florence Senior Center, 1570 Kingwood St., Florence, Ore., 97439. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. WILLIAMS —Elva Williams, of Florence, passed away Oct. 24, 2016. Elva was born to Anna (Valkner) Karr and Harvey Karr on Feb. 22, 1922, in Bangor, Mich. She is survived by her sons Patrick Chapman and his wife, and Michael Chapman. A memo- rial service will be held for Elva Williams on S a t u r d a y, Nov. 12, at K i n g d o m Elva Williams Hall, 05335 Singing Wood Dr., in Florence., beginning at 2 p.m. SCHNEIDER—Jack E. Schneider, 86, formerly of Florence, passed away in Hilo, Hawaii on Sept. 26, 2016. Interment of ashes will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eugene, Ore., on Friday, Nov. 11. She was sentenced to 10 days in Florence City Jail. She must pay $525 in fines and not con- tact or be in or about the resi- dences or places of employ- ment of the victims. Damien Dejesus Rendon- Padilla pleaded guilty to reck- less driving. He was sentenced to two days in Florence City Jail and must report to treat- ment. He must pay $525 in fines and not contact or be in or about the residence or places of employment of the victims. His driver’s license is suspended for 90 days. Charles Douglas Roy II pleaded no contest to attempt- ing to elude by vehicle and failure to carry his driver’s license. He must pay $520 in fines and must and not contact or be in or about the residence or place of employment of the victim. His driver’s license is suspended for 90 days and he must report to treatment. Maya Englert pleaded no contest to theft. She was sen- tenced to treatment. She must pay $125 in fines and not con- tact or be in or about the resi- dence or place of employment of the victim. Amanda Cheree Carver pleaded no contest to two counts of theft, assault and `ÃVÕÃÃi`ÕV>Ì«À}À>ð prostitution. She was sen- tenced to six days in Florence City Jail and must report to Emergence Addiction and Mental Health Services. She lived in Florence for her last 16 years since moving from Yachats and originally f r o m California, where she in Beverly Mason resided Redondo Beach, Hemet and Idlywild. Beverly is survived by her husband, three children, seven grandchildren and one great- grandson. She loved Florence and the Oregon coast, having traveled extensively and agree- ing with her husband that here was where she wanted to remain. She was a sweet woman loved by those who knew her and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. At her request private crema- tional rites were held through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
