Bass, at their home. Randy was born in Pasadena, Calif., to Jack and Beverly Morse. Beverly later married Harold Hobby, who then adopt- ed Randy. Randy worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years as a letter carrier in Redmond, Ore. In 2013, he retired and, two years later, returned to Florence, where he had always said his heart was. Randy and Kevin traveled extensively and raised West Highland Terriers. Randy col- lected vacuum cleaners and had a large collection. Randy lived with a strong faith in the Lord, taught Sunday School for many years and loved praise worship services. Randy and Kevin were mar- ried privately with just an offi- cial and gardeners as witnesses, and so was Randy buried at Sunset Cemetery with just Kevin and cemetery staff. They both believed that some things in their lives were private moments. Randy is survived by his husband Kevin Bass; his moth- er, Beverly Hobby; a sister, Heidi Hobby; and a brother, Chris Hobby, all of central Oregon; and five brothers and sisters from his birth father’s second marriage, all of whom live in Washington. Thanks needs to be given to the hospice staff that comforted Randy and supported Kevin during Randy’s last weeks at home. A special thanks also needs to be given to Jim Welborn, a caregiver who flew out from Wilton Manors in Florida to help. Jim’s praise songs and support was of great comfort to Randy. Jim’s father, a Baptist minister, would call often to pray with Randy from North Carolina. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, at the family home in Glenada. Burns’s Riverside Funeral Home handled all burial requests. MOSBY—Merritt C. Mosby, 82, formerly of Florence, passed away April 25, 2016, in Modesto, Calif.
